This is the modern day view of yesterday's photo of Bursa in 1977. The mosque is still there, although it's almost obscured by the road now. This was a quiet moment for traffic - usually the roads are a lot busier than this.

I'm amazed that all those typical old houses are so completely wiped away! But I guess the apartments are a more efficient use of space for housing. And the trees are gone too! So much for "yes(h)il" Bursa!
Okay, I realize it's winter, and I see some trees. It really has been a long, long time since I was there.

It seemed to me that there weren't as many trees as in your photo though even if it is winter. Bursa is still quite green but not as much as it used to be i think.
As for the old houses, I suppose some of them became unsafe for an earthquake zone. It's nice to see that old buildings in other parts of town are being restored.
