Thanks all for visiting! It seems strange that supermarkets can look the same in countries which are so far. Carrefour is a French company so I suppose it is to be expected.
Tanya - yes they are the shopping carts. They are chained together and you have to put a 1YTL coin (just less than $1) deposit to take one.
